A bill, reported by the Necenzurirano portal, proposes the establishment of a National Demographic Fund. Under this framework, the state would transfer the oversight and management of a significant portion of its assets to this centralized entity. The proposed National Demographic Fund would consolidate several existing state holdings.
It would merge the Slovenian State Holding (SDH) with the Company for Consulting and Management, which currently handles state real estate. Furthermore, the fund would incorporate the Pension and Disability Insurance Institute (PIZ), alongside its Real Estate Fund PIZ, and the Capital Company. The scope of the new fund’s management would also extend to companies such as Dars and Triglav Insurance.
The scale of the assets under consideration is substantial. SDH is noted to manage approximately 14 billion euros in state assets. Additionally, state real estate and the assets belonging to PIZ are valued at around two billion euros, while the Capital Company manages billions in further state holdings.
Beyond the structural merger, the bill introduces comprehensive changes to the overall management of these assets. The establishment of this centralized fund aims to streamline the governance structure for numerous key state resources. These proposed changes signal a significant shift in how the state manages its diverse portfolio of economic and real estate assets through this consolidated fund.
