Michela Stephana was arrested in 2017 in connection with the death of Janez Plavec, a prominent figure at the Chemical Institute where she had previously worked. Stephana is accused of inciting Iraqi Ali H. R.

R. R. to commit the murder of Plavec.

The initial investigation was spearheaded by an Iraqi individual who reported Stephana’s alleged actions to law enforcement. While awaiting judgment in the Plavec case, authorities believe Stephana formulated plans for a second murder, targeting an Iraqi witness. Testimony revealed Stephana discussed his intentions with two fellow inmates: A.

K., with whom he shared a room, and M. Š. It was M.

Š. who subsequently alerted the police to Stephana’s alleged plot. A.

K. testified that Stephana outlined several potential methods for the murder, including the use of various chemicals for poisoning. Furthermore, A.

K. stated that Stephana utilized his computer to develop a plan for eliminating the Iraqi witness. The investigation is ongoing, and Stephana remains in custody.
