Police arrested the violent man who blackmailed his victim

The man, who is now a suspect, engaged in extortion against a victim from late February through March. He demanded payment for a fabricated debt amounting to several thousand euros. Through this illicit activity, he acquired unlawful property gains totaling several thousand euros.

Further investigation by the police revealed a more serious offense. In March of this year, the man physically assaulted the victim in the Gorizia region. Last Wednesday, the Gorizia police took custody of the 46-year-old individual and ordered his detention.

The following day, he appeared before the investigating judge in Nova Gorica, who subsequently upheld the order for continued custody. The judge determined that the man must remain detained while the legal proceedings continue. Ultimately, the suspect received a sentence of imprisonment for a maximum of five years related to the extortion crime.

Additionally, he was sentenced to imprisonment for a maximum of three years for the crime of violence. The police are continuing their work to ensure justice is served.
