Fatal Traffic Collision Involving Three Trucks on Maribor Highway

A fatal traffic accident occurred on the highway heading towards Maribor shortly before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, involving three trucks. A 49-year-old truck driver, a Czech national, was involved in a collision with a stationary truck positioned on the roadway.

The initial impact caused the stationary truck to strike a third truck, resulting in a fire within the driver’s vehicle. Emergency responders pronounced the driver dead at the scene due to critical injuries sustained in the crash. The Celje Police confirmed the incident and stated it represents the ninth fatal traffic accident within the district this year.

Authorities are urging drivers to be aware of ongoing construction impacting traffic flow. Traffic on the highway between Slovenske Konjice and Dramlje is currently restricted to one lane in each direction and is anticipated to remain so until the end of August. Furthermore, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Slovenj Gradec and Radlje ob Dravi by the end of August, due to highway construction.

Drivers are advised to exercise caution and plan for potential delays in this area.
