This Easter, religious observances will take place across Slovenia and the Vatican, marking the traditional celebration of Jesus Christ’s resurrection. According to established customs, believers will attend church services, where priests will announce the resurrection. Following the services, gatherings for Easter breakfasts will occur, featuring special meals known as blessed Easter dishes.
Today, Bishop Andrej Saje, President of the Slovenian Episcopal Conference, will lead the Easter mass and procession in Novo Mesto, commencing at 6:30 AM in the cathedral church. A similar procession is scheduled to begin in Maribor at 7:00 AM, with Archbishop Alojzij Cvikl presiding over the Easter mass. The Ljubljana Easter mass will be held at 8:30 AM in the Ljubljana Cathedral, led by Archbishop Stanislav Zore.
The Vatican is hosting Easter ceremonies for the first time since the beginning, drawing large crowds of worshippers from around the globe. The blessing of Easter eggs is planned for Saturday.
