Paul Seixas secured a victory in a stage of the Basque Country race. The young French runner significantly improved his time from the initial chronometer reading and surpassed his competitors during the challenging 164-kilometer event. A key element of the course was a demanding first-category climb up San Miguel de Aralar.
Seixas successfully launched an attack on the ascent to the route’s highest peak and maintained the lead over the remaining 26 kilometers. His rivals were unable to keep pace, allowing Seixas to build a minute-long advantage as he approached the finish line. At the finish, Seixas led the first group of runners, holding a one minute and 25 second lead.
He finished alongside Primož Roglič. The stage was closely contested, with the outcome determined by overall time. Seixas came close to securing second place, ultimately losing out to Danish cyclist Mattias Skjelmose of Lidl Trek.
The competition for the final positions and bonus seconds was intense throughout the race.
