Tadej Pogačar, the race winner, and Remco Evenepoel, who finished third, were among a group of cyclists who briefly violated traffic rules during the Flanders race. The incident occurred approximately 210 kilometers from the finish line in Wichelen. Around 20 cyclists disregarded traffic signals and crossed a railway line just as the gates were closing.
These cyclists had previously led the race for several minutes before safely navigating across the tracks. The majority of the other participants stopped as directed in front of the gate. Following the intervention of race leadership to slow the group, Pogačar and Evenepoel’s group merged with the main pack shortly after.
Officials noted that the cyclists had disregarded warning lights prior to crossing the railway line. The incident resulted in a brief disruption to the race, with the group subsequently regrouping under the guidance of the race organizers.
