Umag police responded to a report yesterday at approximately 8:00 a.m. concerning a decomposing dolphin carcass discovered on the coast in Bašanija, Croatia. Initial investigations by the police suggest the dolphin’s injuries were likely inflicted by firearms.

The incident has been immediately reported to the Ministry for Environmental Protection and Green Passage, who are now responsible for the animal’s further handling and management. A veterinary pathology examination is scheduled to be conducted at the Veterinary Pathology Institute. Experts will analyze the injuries to determine the precise cause of death.
