A 56-year-old man, Đorđe Martinović, was admitted to a hospital in Gjilan, located in the southeast of Kosovo, where he presented with a severe injury. Initially, Martinović claimed that two Albanian individuals had attacked him while he was working in a field.

However, following questioning by Colonel Novak Ivanović of the Yugoslav People’s Army, Martinović altered his account of the incident.
He allegedly stated that the injury was self-inflicted, resulting from an unsuccessful attempt at masturbation. Colonel Ivanović later confirmed that he had elicited this confession, stating that he demanded this admission from Martinović and from his superiors.
