Cuts in the DZ’s working bodies with additional seats for Levica and Vesna

The Delegation for Legislation (DZ) convened on Monday for a special session, establishing working bodies and appointing their respective presidents and vice-presidents. Prior to these appointments, the DZ also resolved to remove committee seats allocated to the college, a decision contested by the Freedom, Social Democratic (SD), Levica, and Vesna parliamentary groups. These groups expressed disagreement with the removal, citing concerns regarding representation within the committees.

The Freedom party advocated for increased presidential seats based on the electoral outcome. Similarly, Levica voiced dissatisfaction over the lack of committee representation, asserting that DZ regulations typically guarantee each parliamentary group at least one seat in every working body. Ahead of a vote on the college decision, Zoran Stevanović announced a proposal to allocate additional seats to both Levica and Vesna.

This proposal was subsequently approved by the DZ, ensuring continued representation for the affected parliamentary groups. The session focused on addressing concerns surrounding the allocation of seats and securing equitable representation across the working bodies. The outcome reflects a commitment to incorporating the viewpoints of Levica and Vesna within the DZ’s operational structure.
