On Sunday, a man swam in shallow water on the coast of Cassowary Coast between the towns of Cairns and Townsville. A 39-year-old man was attacked by a sea dog in the process. The man was called to the scene by the police and the rescue services, who rescued him from the water.
But it was too late, the man died from his injuries, reports BBC. The sea dog bit the man in the lower part of his legs and there was no help for him. Sea dog attacks are more common in Australia than in many other parts of the world, although they are often not fatal.
In popular beaches, there are many measures in place to protect against such attacks.
