Speaker of the National Assembly, Zoran Stevanović, hurried to convene the session for the vote on the new mandate as soon as possible, on Friday morning. If and when Janez Janša is confirmed in a secret vote with the support of the national communities, he is expected to have a comfortable majority of 50 votes, with the SDS party president having 14 days to form a government. However, the distribution of ministries, as claimed by the leaders of the future coalition parties, is not yet finalised, unlike the coalition agreement, which has already been confirmed by all parties.
And why has the coalition agreement not been signed yet? Officially, the text is still in the reading stage. Unofficially, it is said that they still need to finalise the proposal on how to regulate the operation of the special prosecutor’s unit for the prosecution of corruption (SKOK), which is demanded by the Democrats.
