Will patients have to wait for hours in the rain and cold to be admitted to the new outpatient clinic?

Cerkno Family Clinic Reduces Services Due to Staffing Shortages

The family medicine clinic at the Health Center (ZD) Cerkno officially closed in September of last year, extending its operations for an additional eight months due to ongoing staff shortages, according to reports from the local Idrija.com portal. The clinic’s work concluded in May. A new doctor has since taken over the facility, but limited working hours will restrict patient access.

The Health Center (ZD) Idrija, which encompasses the Cerkno clinic, explained that the doctor will operate on a reduced schedule, allowing for only 0.4 “programs,” or approximately twice-weekly sessions. This translates to a capacity to serve approximately 490 of the clinic’s original 1,400 patients. Due to the doctor’s reduced working time, only a portion of the patient population will be able to receive care through the clinic.

The Health Center (ZD) Idrija highlighted the situation as a result of the ongoing staffing challenges impacting the clinic’s ability to fully serve its community. The clinic continues to operate with a focus on providing care to a reduced number of patients.
