Verne Mateja Rimca, a Croatian technology company, has launched Europe’s first commercial robotaxi service in partnership with Uber and Pony.ai. The service commenced operations today in Zagreb, marking a significant step in autonomous vehicle technology deployment within the European market. Users can currently book and pay for rides through the Verne application.
The company plans to integrate the service into the Uber application in the near future, expanding accessibility for a wider range of customers. The autonomous driving technology powering the robotaxis is supplied by Pony.ai. Initial operations will utilize Pony.ai’s technology, and the company anticipates a phased rollout of the vehicles.
This collaboration represents a combined effort between Croatian innovation and global technology leaders.
