Urška Klakočar Zupančič, the Slovenian president, participated in a meeting regarding the upcoming mandate-election commission and the potential vice-president role. She described the meeting as “unusual” and expressed anticipation for developments “next term.”

During the discussion, concerns were raised about the potential challenges associated with selecting a president for the commission. Zupančič noted that the situation appears to suggest a mandate heavily reliant on the cooperation and constructive engagement of smaller political parties that secured seats in parliament.

Following the meeting, Borut Sajovic, the head of the Freedom party’s parliamentary group, stated that the parliamentary group of the Democrats would ultimately determine the selection of the president. The Freedom and Social Democratic Union (SDS) parliamentary groups have been granted a mandate-election commission mandate. This indicates their involvement in the forthcoming process of appointing members to the commission.

The focus remains on navigating the complexities of securing a president through parliamentary agreement and collaboration.
