Tomc Grimsa called for resignation in case of exclusion

European MEP Romana Tomc has indicated that she proposed the resignation of Grimsa should the EPP group confirm an exclusion during the group’s upcoming meeting. Meanwhile, Manfred Weber, the leader of the European People’s Party (EPP), declined to offer specific comments regarding the Grimsa situation at the recent meeting. When questioned about the matter, Weber classified the issue as an “internal matter” pertaining solely to the EPP.

Despite the ongoing discussion concerning a potential exclusion, Weber addressed the future relationship between the EPP and the SDS. He stated publicly that the EPP remains pleased with the affiliation, asserting, “I can proudly say that we are happy to have them in the EPP family.”

Tomc, who also serves as a vice-president within the European Parliament and leads the SDS delegation, commented on the proceedings, noting that her actions were consistent with her responsibilities. The statements highlight ongoing political tensions within the EPP regarding the status of Grimsa and the implications of any potential exclusion decision.

Weber’s remarks suggest an effort to downplay internal divisions, emphasizing the continued unity of the EPP structure despite the disagreements surrounding Grimsa.
