A national safety initiative will run from Monday, March 23rd, through Easter Monday, April 6th, aimed at enhancing the safety of drivers operating single-seat motor vehicles. This coordinated action, led by the Traffic Safety Agency alongside police forces, centers on advising drivers about a careful and progressive start to the motorcycle season. Throughout the upcoming months, the agency will collaborate with DARS, AMZS, healthcare organizations, motor clubs, and specialists.
They plan to deliver practical driving instruction, produce informative videos, and foster partnerships. The agency highlights concerning accident statistics from 2023. Data reveals a troubling trend: in the last year, 1,305 traffic incidents involved drivers of single-seat motor vehicles.
Alarmingly, by March 15th, there were already 61 such accidents. Tragically, 30 motorcycle drivers lost their lives, a significant increase from the 13 fatalities recorded the previous year. This focused effort underscores the importance of prioritizing safety during the beginning of the motorcycle season.
