The average length of a government formation is two months

Some governments have assumed office after being voted out or resigned by the presidents of the governments. The chronology of elections and the formation of governments after the general elections: 8th April 1990 – In the first multi-party elections in Slovenia, then still in the SRS assembly, the coalition Demos won. The Demos government led by Lojze Peterlet (SKD) was elected after a good month, on 16th May.

6th December 1992 – In the first elections to the National Assembly, the LDS won. Prime Minister became Janez Drnovšek (LDS), the government was formed by the LDS, SKD, ZLSD and SDSS. It was elected a good month and a half after the elections, on 25th January 1993.

10th November 1996 – In the parliamentary elections, the LDS won. Its champion Janez Drnovšek formed the government with the SLS and DeSUS in three months. The election was won a month and a half after the elections, on 10th December 1996.
