Stevanović: I demanded that the voters no longer mark the ballot papers

Dzorn Stevanović, President of the Serbian Progressive Party (Resnica), addressed concerns regarding secret ballots used within the party this week. In a video posted to the party’s social media channels, Stevanović stated that the practice ensures members maintain independence from external pressure during key decisions. Recent revelations have indicated that multiple markings appeared on ballots cast in support of Stevanović.

Investigators identified three distinct types of marks made on the ballots. Analysis of the ballot counts revealed that members from several political parties – including the New Social Democratic Party (NSi), the Social Democratic Party (SLS), Fokus, Demokrati, and Resnica – utilized these markings. Stevanović revealed he was informed that this behavior has been occurring for years.

He explained that members have consistently marked ballots in various ways during secret votes. He maintains that this practice, regardless of the intent, constitutes a violation of the established process and ultimately supports the party’s goal of safeguarding independence from undue influence.
