Luka Dončić satisfied with the “fair decision” of NBA and NBPA

Luka Dončić has secured an adjustment to NBA rules following his request regarding a previously established restriction. Earlier this month, Dončić voiced concerns about the “65-game rule,” which limited players’ ability to compete for Most Valuable Player status. The National Basketball Association and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) have responded to Dončić’s situation, agreeing to a temporary modification.

This decision was made due to what the league termed “extraordinary circumstances” surrounding Dončić’s season. Specifically, Dončić’s eligibility for MVP consideration will now be assessed based on his participation in 65 games. This allowance stems from a combination of factors, including his absence from 64 games due to a previous thigh injury, time spent with his family following the birth of his second daughter, and a trip to Slovenia.

Dončić expressed his gratitude for the league’s response, stating, “I thank the NBPA for taking up my complaint, and the NBA for understanding and fair treatment.” The adjustment reflects a recognition of the unique circumstances impacting Dončić’s playing time and eligibility throughout the season.
