Sequences, speculations and alliances: Who will collect 46 votes?

Political maneuvering continues as Slovenia seeks to establish a new parliamentary head, with a decisive outcome anticipated next Friday. The key lies in securing the absolute majority of deputies required for the election. However, the composition of that majority remains uncertain, and negotiations are reportedly underway behind the scenes.

Prime Minister Robert Golob has stated the intention to “bring the barge to a safe harbor,” a metaphor used to describe the formation of a stable government. Current coalition partners, conversely, believe the balance of power is shifting in favor of a fourth government led by Janez Janša. Meetings are being facilitated by Janez Janša, and speculation centers on the final makeup of the governing coalition.

The “barge” – referring to the potential government – is currently navigating a period of significant political instability. Skepticism remains high within Golob’s coalition, with one partner expressing concern that a Janša-led government is taking shape. The outcome of these ongoing discussions will determine the direction of Slovenia’s political landscape.
