A Koper man is facing criminal charges following a traffic incident that occurred earlier today. According to police reports, a 21-year-old driver was operating a vehicle traveling towards Ljubljana when it collided with a temporary concrete safety barrier. The vehicle subsequently impacted a metal safety fence, bringing the incident to a stop.
Fortunately, the driver and two passengers – a 23-year-old and a 30-year-old – sustained no injuries. Following the crash, police initiated a routine drug test on the driver, which yielded a positive result for cocaine and amphetamines. As a result, the driver was immediately referred for a professional medical examination at a local health institution.
Based on the circumstances of the incident and the positive drug test, Koper police intend to file a criminal complaint against the 21-year-old driver for dangerous driving in road traffic. The investigation is ongoing.
