After the Hobbit, Peter Jackson moves on to Tintin

At the Cannes film festival, Peter Jackson, who received the honorary Golden Palm for lifetime achievement, provided updates on his upcoming film projects. Jackson addressed the nature of a film that will serve as a sequel to an animated movie from 2011, a project in which he was a co-producer with Steven Spielberg. Jackson noted that the initial arrangement stipulated that Spielberg would direct one film, and Jackson would direct the other.

He commented on the timeline, stating, “So, Steven made his film, and I haven’t made one in 15 years. I’m very embarrassed.”

In addition to the sequel, Jackson discussed his work on the Tintin adaptation. He confirmed that he is collaborating with his partner, Fran Walsh, on the script, which is currently being sent to New Zealand for development.

While he declined to specify which Tintin narrative the film will draw from, Jackson confirmed a key plot point: the movie is structured to begin immediately following the conclusion of Spielberg’s film, focusing specifically on the Red Rackham Treasure.
