Volunteers from the Reka Shelter for Abandoned Dogs reported discovering a case of significant animal neglect following the death of a 64-year-old man in a residence on Učka near Rijeka. Upon arrival, volunteers found numerous animals in poor condition, alongside multiple deceased animals scattered throughout the property. Local police confirmed that veterinary services were alerted to the situation and subsequently removed a minimum of 47 dogs and six cats from the estate.
The Primorsko-Goranska police administration stated that investigators discovered a substantial number of animal remains, which they suspect are the result of inadequate care or malnutrition.
