A 40-year-old paraglider from the Czech Republic sustained injuries after an incident on the Kobala slope near Tolmin, Slovenia, on Sunday. The Regional Information Center in Nova Gorica alerted local police to the incident, reporting that the paraglider had fallen while flying independently. According to initial reports, the paraglider was approximately three meters above the Kobala take-off site when a sudden, strong gust of wind caused his paraglider to turn unexpectedly.
The pilot subsequently initiated a controlled descent, but the fall still occurred from a height of approximately 20 meters. Mountain rescue GRS Tolmin responded to the scene and transported the injured paraglider to a nearby location. He was then flown to the Ljubljana Clinical Center via military helicopter for further medical treatment.
The extent of his physical injuries is currently being assessed.
