Former National Assembly President Monitors Parliamentary Sessions
Urška Klakočar Zupančič, the former President of the National Assembly, is observing parliamentary proceedings from outside the building as discussions regarding recent developments continue. Ms. Klakočar Zupančič’s observations have included ongoing negotiations and recent tensions involving Zoran Stevanović and opposition members.
During an appearance on 24UR, she discussed her perspectives on the situation. Regarding the negotiations, Ms. Klakočar Zupančič stated she was not surprised by the course of events, citing prior interactions with Mr.
Stevanović before the 2022 elections. She characterized Mr. Stevanović’s approach and attitudes towards women as consistent with previously expressed concerns.
The former president distinguished between providing legal counsel and the use of inflammatory language. She argued that legal professionals should operate within established parliamentary procedures and a comprehensive legal framework, separate from what she termed “slavistic outbursts.”
Responding to inquiries about potential resentment from a senior figure towards subordinates, Ms. Klakočar Zupančič advised against such feelings.
The interview focused on the internal dynamics of the National Assembly and ongoing debates surrounding key legislative issues.
It’s a shame to see a respected figure like her step away from such a central role in Slovenian politics.
