Franc Mikec, a prominent figure in Slovenian athletics, dedicated four decades to the sport, leaving a lasting impact on its development and reputation. His involvement began during his school years, marked by a passion for sports and participation in the preparation of the Brotherhood and Unity Day in 1960. Following studies in law in Ljubljana, Mikec joined a sports organization, playing a key role in the construction of the Portoval stadium in Novo mesto.
In 1964, he assumed the role of organizational secretary for the Slovenian Athletics Association, a position he held until his retirement in 1996.
