The enthusiastic Canadian shared his experiences with us shortly before the women’s race at Planica on Saturday. He’s been a dedicated follower of this sport for a considerable period, and the timing finally aligned for his arrival. His journey to the Slovenian venue was remarkably complex.
It began with a flight from Fort McMurray to Calgary, followed by a connection to Frankfurt. However, the intended flight to Ljubljana was unexpectedly postponed, rerouting him to Warsaw and then finally to Ljubljana. “It was chaotic, but I managed,” he recounted, vividly recalling the extensive travel from Canada to the valley below Ponce.
Despite the logistical difficulties, he expressed no regrets about the long trip. The Canadian was particularly struck by the positive atmosphere. “The atmosphere is splendid,” he stated, adding that while he doesn’t comprehend the local language, he appreciates the evident success of the competitors and the strong sense of community.
He even noted observing some activity on Thursday. This some sport enthusiast clearly enjoyed his time at Planica.
