Milanović canceled the Brdo-Brioni summit due to Vučić’s statements

Milanović asserts that recent political statements and actions by Vučić directly contradict the objectives of the Brdo-Brioni process, significantly damaging interstate relations and posing a threat to peace and stability in Southeast Europe. He believes that, under these circumstances, conditions for Vučić’s arrival in Croatia are absent. Consequently, the Croatian president has cancelled the planned meeting in Brioni, his role as a co-chairman of the Brdo-Brioni process.

He has communicated this decision to the leaders of the nations scheduled to participate in the summit. A future meeting between Milanović and Vučić, originally planned for 2022, will occur once suitable conditions are established. This will follow consultation between Milanović and the President of NATO, Nataša Pirc Musar, who also serves as a co-chairman of the Brdo-Brioni initiative, within Zagreb.

Vučić’s presence during the latter part of the month presented an obstacle, and his visit to Croatia remains impossible due to the prevailing political climate. The Brdo-Brioni process, established through the Brdo and Brioni forums, is currently suspended due to these unresolved tensions.
