Janja Garnbret can reach a new milestone in Innsbruck

Janja Garnbret Returns to Climbing with Challenging Route Attempt

Janja Garnbret, a prominent figure in the climbing world, recently resumed her training following a competitive break. Initially, plans had been set for her to compete in both Alpine and bouldering events within Austria’s Tyrol region. However, this period did not signify a cessation of her climbing activities.

On June 6th, Garnbret undertook her first climb of a natural rock route at the French Céüse, a location rated at 9b+. This project had been the focus of her dedication over the preceding five years. During this time, Garnbret prioritized developing her skills on natural rock, which influenced her strategic approach to competition-oriented artificial walls.

She participated in the initial stages of the World Series in China, securing second place in both the Alpine and bouldering events held in Keqiu and Wujiang. Despite these strong showings, Garnbret unexpectedly missed the victory that would have marked her 50th career win. This result underscored the continued high level of competition within the sport.

Garnbret’s return demonstrates her commitment to pushing her limits and exploring diverse climbing challenges.
