Emergency responders with the PU Kranj were alerted on Friday at approximately 18:30 regarding a missing 42-year-old man. He was scheduled to exit the Lenuhova grapa area, situated beneath Begunjska Vrtača, during the early morning hours, but had not returned by that time. Immediately, efforts commenced to locate the individual.
His vehicle was discovered in the Ljubelj region. The subsequent search operation, focused on the Koželjeva direction on the northern face of Begunjska Vrtača, continued throughout the morning. Information indicates that a helicopter rescue team from GRZS, operating from Brnik, was deployed.
A member of the mountain police unit accompanied the team. The rescue team successfully located the hiker around 9:00. He had ascended Lenuhova grapa to Begunjska Vrtača via the Koželjeva direction and, while descending, experienced a fall to that same area.
The incident occurred at an altitude of approximately 1,700 meters above sea level.
