Moscow Targeted by Continued Drone Attacks

Moscow experienced ongoing hostile drone attacks over the past 24 hours, according to city officials. One drone caused damage to a Moscow refinery located in the Kapotnya district, south-eastern Moscow. The refinery, owned by Gazprom, is currently closed to traffic following the incident.

Sergey Sobjanin, the Mayor of Moscow, reported that no casualties resulted from the attacks. Air defense systems intercepted approximately 60 drones targeting the city today, as reported by state news agency Tass, marking one of the largest attacks on Moscow this year. Following the attacks, Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, Sheremetyevo, and Vnukovo airports were temporarily closed to ensure passenger safety.

Data released by the Russian Ministry of Defense indicates that a total of 172 drones have been shot down across various regions of Russia. The ongoing attacks represent a significant security challenge for the capital city. Investigations into the source and intent of the drone activity are underway.
