Instead of falling, increase in injuries: this is also due to the heat

The Ljubljana University Clinical Center (LUC) reported a notable increase in the volume of patients treated for injuries in recent days, according to a statement issued by Radoš Vidmar, the deputy head of the emergency surgical block. This surge is particularly noteworthy because the facility typically observes a decline in trauma cases during this period of the year. The operational demands on the center remain high.

LUC has also managed eight transfers of patients from other regional hospitals. These transferred individuals required specialized follow-up diagnostics or further surgical intervention at the LUC facility. In the recent period, the center accepted 44 patients for advanced surgical treatment, with additional cases currently awaiting necessary procedures at home.

Vidmar also detailed the daily routine, noting that the surgical team places approximately 40 dressings each day. He contrasted this current activity level with historical trends, explaining that during the summer months, a standard decrease of around 25% in the number of injured patients is usually observed. However, this anticipated seasonal reduction has not materialized this year, suggesting sustained high demand across the clinical departments.

The increased volume underscores the ongoing activity within the emergency and surgical services at the LUC.
