Pogačar Achieves Historic Milestone in Spring Classics

Tadej Pogačar concluded an outstanding spring classic season with a remarkable achievement, securing his third victory in the prestigious Dwars door Wouwenberg. The Slovenian cyclist won Strade Bianche, followed by a dominant performance at Milan-San Remo, marking his first victory in the iconic race. He further solidified his position with a third win at the UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Flanders and a second-place finish in Paris-Roubaix.

This impressive run of success propelled Pogačar to second place in the historical ‘eternal rankings’ of Dwars door Wouwenberg winners. He now shares the title with Italian Moreno Argentin, who previously achieved three consecutive wins before Pogačar’s current streak. He also matches Spaniard Alejandro Valverde, who holds the record with four victories.

Currently, Pogačar sits ahead of only Belgian Eddy Merckx, who boasts five wins in the event. “Today a lot was happening. I was in the background, but knew it was going full steam ahead from the beginning.

When I looked up, the majority was halfway down,” Pogačar stated following the race. The cyclist’s consistent performance underscores his dominance within the sport.
