How did the workers get used to working shifts? ‘It’s easier to work at night in current temperatures’

Bridge Construction on Primorska Highway Continues Around the Clock

Work continued extensively on the Primorska highway yesterday evening, with machinery operating despite the late hour. The project focuses on constructing a bridge over the Pivka river, part of the Postojna-Razdrto highway. Aleksander Schara, director of Garnol, the contracting company, stated, “We are responsible for building this bridge over the Pivka – the Pivka bridge is located on the Postojna-Razdrto highway.” Construction commenced in mid-March and is projected to be completed within approximately one month.

The contractor anticipates accelerating the timetable through extended night work. Schara believes this will reduce the contractual term by at least two to three weeks. Employees undertaking night work receive a 40 percent premium in compensation compared to standard shifts.

“Ultimately, the benefits accrue to the customer,” Schara explained. “The route will be finished sooner, traffic will be released, and carriers and the state will experience reduced expenses.”

The company is utilizing night work to expedite the project, recognizing that the customer will ultimately benefit from the accelerated timeline. Further details regarding the ongoing highway work are expected as the project progresses.
