He burned the wood pile, firefighters and police intervened

On Monday evening, local authorities in Nova Gorica were alerted to visible smoke emanating from a wood pile located near the settlement of Vodice within the Ajdovščina municipality. Responding personnel included officers from the Nova Gorica Police Department (PD) and firefighters from PGD Col. Upon arrival at the scene, the joint team assessed the situation and determined that an emergency intervention was not required.

Representatives from the PD Nova Gorica reported that the smoke was identified as a natural occurrence resulting from the burning process beneath the earth. According to their statement, the smoke was generated as water evaporated from the wood, a process that ultimately leads to the formation of charcoal. A local resident was present throughout the duration of the incident.

The incident occurred against a backdrop of heightened environmental risk, as temperatures had reached up to 39 degrees Celsius, leading to a declaration of high fire danger across the natural environment. Due to these prevailing conditions, the Ajdovščina Police Station was also actively involved in managing the situation, and the PD Ajdovščina was kept informed of the details. The involvement of multiple police units underscores the coordinated response to manage potential risks associated with the high fire danger index in the region.
