After a great performance on Saturday in the chronometer, where he won a silver medal, he added a gold medal on the 59.4-kilometer road race on Sunday and became European champion.
Doplihar finished the race in 1:27:33, which was the same time as silver medalist Mirko Testa and bronze medalist Micha Wäfler from Switzerland. The race was extremely tense and tied, with only nine seconds separating the first nine competitors. Anej Doplihar showed exceptional composure, strength and fighting spirit at the end and was overjoyed with his career-best success.
