Semaphore removed, work stopped, they will continue after September 15

Traffic Congestion Alleviated Following Road Closure and Traffic Light Removal

Following several days of significant traffic disruption, travel times between Koper, Izola, and Piran have returned to normal, averaging approximately twenty minutes. The extended delays, initially caused by a traffic accident and subsequent closure on Tuesday, impacted local bypass roads and created considerable congestion. The Directorate of Infrastructure of the Republic of Slovenia announced today that the contractor has taken action to address the situation.

Traffic lights implementing alternating one-way traffic on the construction site have been removed, and the previous traffic regime on the Jagodje-Valeta road has been reinstated. The Directorate stated that construction work has been temporarily halted and is expected to resume after September 15th. This date is anticipated to feature reduced traffic volume in the area, facilitating the continuation of operations.

The Primorska Chamber of Commerce also contacted the directorate today, with chamber president Borut Fakin requesting an immediate resolution and the removal of the traffic lights. The Directorate confirmed that the necessary steps have been taken to alleviate the traffic issues.
