Drunk drove off the road, broke the fence and slipped into a ravine

A traffic accident occurred at approximately 8:40 AM when a vehicle slid into a ditch. Authorities reported that the driver sustained no injuries following the incident. Following the collision, the police initiated standard procedures, which included requiring the driver to undergo a breathalyzer test.

According to the police in Nova Gorica, the test provided a definitive result, indicating the driver was under the influence of alcohol, with the reading showing 0.84 mg/l of alcohol in the exhaled air. Multiple emergency services responded to the scene. Personnel from the police, alongside firefighters from PGD Tolmin and PGD Most on Soča, and emergency medical staff from the Nova Gorica Health Center, were present to manage the aftermath of the accident.

The police confirmed that the individual responsible for the traffic accident will face prosecution. Charges are expected under the Road Traffic Act, specifically citing unadapted speed and driving under the influence of alcohol. Furthermore, the police stated that an official indictment will be submitted to the competent district court.

The investigation confirms that the initial police assessment focused on the circumstances leading up to the vehicle sliding into the ditch.
