Croatia will limit the sale of alcohol and energy drinks

Croatian Parliament: Croatian Parliament considered the proposed changes to the Trade Act in a quick procedure on Thursday, which were supported by both the ruling HDZ and the majority of the opposition. According to the proposal, local authorities will be able to restrict the sale of alcoholic beverages between 9 pm and 6 am, or even completely prohibit it during this time, due to the protection of public health, public order and peace, cultural heritage or the environment. Merchants will have to check the age of customers of alcoholic beverages if they deem that the customer is younger than 18, even when using self-service cash registers.

In the case of online alcohol sales, they will have to provide proof of age through the e-Gradani information system or its mobile version. The law also provides for a ban on the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors.
