According to findings released by the Istrian police, an assault took place on July 18th around 4:00 a.m. at the Medulin beach. The incident involved two Slovenians, aged 26 and 23, who were previously guests at a restaurant shared with a group of four men.
The police report indicates that the Slovenians attempted to initiate contact with the group. After the party left the establishment, the two Slovenians were walking along the beach behind the group. The situation escalated when one of the Slovenians made a comment that reportedly caused offense to the men, leading to a verbal confrontation that quickly turned physical.
Authorities suspect that the 22-year-old man, along with three others, initiated the physical attack. The police allege that the group knocked the two Slovenians to the ground and subjected them to a beating. As a result of the attack, the 26-year-old Slovene sustained severe physical injuries, while the 23-year-old suffered minor injuries.
Following the conclusion of the criminal investigation, the 22-year-old suspect was detained by the police on Thursday evening before being released. The investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding the altercation.
