Multiple Fires Impact Slovenia Following Severe Weather

Following a weekend of significant weather events, volunteer fire brigades across Slovenia responded to multiple fires and hazardous material incidents. Emergency services collaborated to address widespread damage and ensure public safety. A fire occurred at the Health Center in Zagorje ob Savi around 10 p.m.

on Saturday. The blaze, originating in a firefighting vehicle, spread to the garage roof and partially to the main building of the center. Firefighters from the Zagorje City Voluntary Fire Brigade (PGD) successfully contained the fire, extinguishing the vehicle, the garage roof, and the health center itself.

A thermal imaging camera was utilized to assess the extent of the damage. The firefighting vehicle was completely destroyed by the fire. Police officers were present at the scene to assist with crowd control and security.

Separately, a fire burned down at the Terme Ptuj campsite at approximately midnight. The fire spread after, but details regarding the cause are still under investigation. Throughout the region, firefighters worked alongside other emergency services to remove downed trees from roadways and electrical and telecommunication poles, a consequence of the severe weather.

The Slovenian Fire and Rescue Service reported a coordinated response to mitigate the impact of these incidents.
