Banka Slovenije’s recommendations: cash for 72 hours

Bank of Slovenia Highlights Payment Infrastructure Resilience Amidst Growing Risks

The Bank of Slovenia has affirmed the reliability of the country’s payment infrastructure, noting a diverse range of efficient and secure payment methods are available to users. Officials advise preparing for potential disruptions to typical payment systems due to evolving crisis conditions. The Bank emphasized that the operation of key infrastructure is subject to various influences, including geopolitical tensions, cyber risks, and increasingly frequent extreme weather events.

These factors can lead to temporary disruptions. Specifically, power outages or internet access interruptions may temporarily impede the use of payment cards, mobile applications, or cash withdrawals from ATMs. The Bank highlighted the importance of having alternative methods for accessing cash available.

“It is reasonable to prepare for situations where, due to crisis conditions, your usual payment methods or access to cash would temporarily not be possible,” the Bank stated. The Slovenian financial institution continues to monitor these risks and maintain preparedness to ensure the continued functionality of the nation’s payment systems. Users are encouraged to remain informed about potential disruptions and to consider having backup options for accessing both payment and cash.
