A large drop in Meta applications: problems with Facebook, partly Messenger and Instagram

Meta Platforms Experience Widespread Service Disruptions

Users of several social networks and applications operated by Meta, the technology giant, are reporting significant service disruptions. Numerous individuals have reported being automatically logged out of platforms including Facebook and Instagram while in use. Following this, attempts to re-establish login access were unsuccessful, with users encountering a message indicating “an unexpected error has occurred.”

The primary impact appears to be concentrated in the United States, with reports also surfacing from Slovenian users experiencing operational issues.

Similar problems have been noted on the main Facebook website, where Meta has acknowledged the situation and stated it is actively working to resolve the error. Data from Downdetector, a website monitoring service tracking service outages, also experienced disruptions coinciding with the reported issues. The cause of the problems remains currently unclear.

Meta has not yet released a formal statement detailing the root cause of the disruptions. Investigations are underway to determine whether the events are interconnected or stemming from a single network-related issue. The company is focused on addressing the problems and restoring full functionality to its platforms.
