Tübingen Police Recover Unusual Shipment of Tarantulas

Tübingen, Germany – Police officers secured a peculiar package at the main railway station in Tübingen, discovering a collection of 20 tarantulas within. The incident, reported by the German press agency dpa, involved the removal of a box containing the arachnids. Upon examining the package, police located a slip of paper identifying the owner and confirming adherence to animal protection laws.

Remarkably, all 20 spiders, identified as Avicularia geroldi, were found to be in good health. The tarantulas, a greenish-blue species with pink-tipped legs reaching approximately the size of a human palm, were individually contained within appropriate containers. The Avicularia geroldi species is known for its distinctive appearance.

Following the discovery, the owner of the tarantulas was contacted and retrieved the shipment on the same day. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the unusual luggage placement on a train. The reason for the abandoned shipment remains unclear.

The police handled the situation with care, ensuring the safe removal and return of the animals.
