Democrats End Coalition Talks with Freedom Movement Following Dispute
The Democrats have concluded negotiations with the Freedom Movement regarding the formation of a new coalition government following disagreements over the direction of discussions. According to Democrats leader Anže Logar, the decision stems from the Freedom Party’s actions, which he described as “going beyond the limits of normal political dialogue.”
Logar announced the termination of talks following the party’s executive committee meeting on Thursday, where the Freedom Movement had authorized its leadership to continue substantive discussions concerning coalition composition. The Freedom Party had been awaiting a response from the Democrats after two post-election meetings with Robert Golob, its leader.
The Democrats have expressed significant concerns regarding the Freedom Party’s approach. Specifically, they voiced criticism of information suggesting the Freedom Party intended to include them in the coalition. Following the Democrats’ announcement, the Freedom Movement remains committed to forming a government.
