Freedom Party MP Alenka Bratušek addressed the perception that certain individuals believe they operate outside the scope of the law. She stated that she has not experienced the level of alleged arrogance or patronage shown by Mr. Lotrič during a previous session of the Commission for the Control of Public Finances.
She emphasized that all parties are subject to scrutiny regarding the expenditure of public funds. Bratušek maintained that no single decision is inherently problematic. Instead, she advocated for an investigation by the Court of Audit and the KPK to determine if the State Council provided funding to the Focus party through specific contracts.
She framed this review as a necessary and fundamental duty of the Commission for the Control of Public Finances. The MP detailed the financial specifics of her concern, noting that Mr. Miro Petek received a total of 51,500 euros from the State Council.
This sum was reportedly allocated across numerous contracts—specifically citing multiple instances of eight thousand euros each—intended for updating the list of associations’ newspapers. Her comments underscore a call for transparent oversight regarding the utilization of public money. By requesting this comprehensive audit, Bratušek asserted that accountability must apply equally to all people, and that the processes governing public finance must be thoroughly examined to ensure adherence to regulations.
