Which non-parliamentary parties will receive financial support?

The legislation governing political parties incorporates budgetary funding alongside parliamentary mandates. This extends support to parties that, while unsuccessful in gaining seats in parliament, achieved at least one percent of the vote during elections. Specific thresholds apply for joint lists; two parties require 1.2 percent, and three or more parties necessitate 1.5 percent.

In 2025, the allocated budget for party financing totaled just under 5.6 million euros. Following a legal amendment, this figure doubled compared to prior years, commencing in 2024. The distribution method has also been revised.

Previously, a quarter of the funds were allocated as a fixed amount, but now, the eligible parties receive a tenth. Subsequently, the remaining 90 percent of the funds are distributed proportionally, based on the percentage of votes each party secured. This adjustment ensures a more equitable allocation of resources among the various parties, recognizing their electoral support.

The changes reflect a commitment to supporting political parties and their engagement within the parliamentary system.
