Concerns have been raised regarding an increase in child pornography offenses occurring at Croatian beaches, particularly during the peak tourist season. During the presentation of the national campaign, “The best children’s swimwear is the one that is worn,” Anita Gračan of the Croatian Police Directorate addressed the issue. Adding to these concerns, Tomislav Ramljak, President of the Croatian Centre for Missing and Abused Children, reported a significant escalation in such incidents, noting a 300 percent increase in offenses over recent years.
Ramljak highlighted that technological progress has made the detection of hidden recording devices more challenging for authorities. The police have reported discovering various items used to conceal these cameras. These devices have been found embedded in everyday objects such as sunglasses, coolers, matches, towels, pens, and backpacks.
Most recently, the Croatian police issued a report detailing the discovery of new hidden cameras specifically placed within the backpacks belonging to children. The ongoing vigilance of law enforcement remains critical in protecting children in public spaces. The police directive serves as a warning to the public about the heightened risk of such illegal activities occurring across the Croatian coastline.
Authorities continue to advise the public to remain aware and report any suspicious items or behavior encountered at the beaches.
