She killed her husband, then published a children’s book about mourning, now she’s in jail until her death

Kouri Richins was sentenced to life in prison following the murder of her husband, Eric Richins, in March. The charges stemmed from an incident in 2022 at their home near Park City, where Richins allegedly added a quadruple lethal dose of fentanyl to her husband’s cocktail. In addition to the murder conviction, the jury found Richins guilty of four other offenses.

These charges included insurance fraud, forgery, and attempted murder. The attempted murder charge related to an earlier incident where she allegedly tried to poison her husband with a sandwich laced with fentanyl a few weeks prior, around Valentine’s Day. The sentencing occurred approximately a year after Eric Richins’ death.

The court proceedings established her guilt on multiple counts, resulting in the life imprisonment sentence. The conviction details the use of fentanyl in multiple attempts to harm her husband, leading to the final judgment.
